Template not listed in the New dialog box due to incorrect file location.
Cause:
The template is not saved in any of the following locations: the Templates folder under the Microsoft Office folder, a subfolder of the Templates folder, the XLSTART folder under the Excel folder, or the location specified in the 'Alternate Startup File Location' box on the 'General' tab in the 'Options' dialog box.
Solution:
Move the template file to any of the above mentioned locations.
To move a file:
1) Open 'Windows Explorer'.
a) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.

b) Select 'Programs' from the menu. (A submenu opens.)
c) Select 'Windows Explorer' from the submenu. (The Exploring window appears.)
2) Open the folder that contains the template file.
a) Select (click on) the drive where the file is located from the 'All Folders' list box. (All the folders and files within the drive appear on the Contents list box of the Exploring window.)
b) Select (double-click on) the folder containing the file from the 'All Folders' list box. (All the subfolders and files within that folder appear on the Contents list box.)
NOTE: If the template file is located in one of the subfolders, continue selecting the appropriate subfolder until the template file is displayed in the 'Contents' list box.
3) Select (click on) the template file.
4) Select the 'Edit' menu and select 'Cut'.
5) Do one of the following:
a) Open the Templates folder under the Microsoft Office folder.
1] Select (click on) the drive where Microsoft Office is installed from the 'All Folders' list box.
2] Select (double-click on) the Microsoft Office folder under the drive.
3] Select (click on) the Templates folder under the Microsoft Office folder.
b) Open a subfolder of the Templates folder.
1] Select the drive where Microsoft Office is installed from the 'All Folders' list box.
2] Select (double-click on) the Microsoft Office folder under the drive.
3] Select (double-click on) the Templates folder under the Microsoft Office folder.
4] Select (click on) the appropriate subfolder under the Templates folder.
c) Open the XLSTART folder under the Excel folder.
1] Select the drive where Microsoft Office is installed from the 'All Folders' list box.
2] Select (double-click on) the Microsoft Office folder under the drive.
3] Select (double-click on) the Excel folder under the Microsoft Office folder.
4] Select (click on) the XLSTART folder under the Excel folder.
d) Open the location specified in the 'Alternate Startup File Location' box in the 'Options' dialog box.
1] Select the specified location:
a] Click 'Microsoft Excel' on the taskbar to switch to Excel.
b] Select the 'Tools' menu and select 'Options...'. (The Options dialog box appears.)
c] Click the 'General' Tab to see the location.

2] Open the specified location.
a] Click 'Exploring' to switch to Windows Explorer.
b] Select the folder specified.
6) Select the 'Edit' menu and select 'Paste'.
